Okay - so some of you may not have had the privilege to know Peggy
Emerson, but some of us did..... & yet again she had made me smile.

Yesterday I was sifting through my files trying to see if there was
anything from way back that I might want to 'remodel' for this year
when I came across my folder "Ideas from other teachers" that I
started back when I attended the retreat at College of the Ozarks.
Inside that folder were a number of ideas from teachers who have
impacted my teaching in a number of positive ways but the ones who
made me stop and smile were all the little notes that I had gotten
from Peggy. As a first year teacher she was instrumental in giving me
that little boost right when I needed it. She encouraged me to be the
best darn teacher I could be.

So as a tribute to Peggy, I would like to encourage all us 'veteran'
teachers out there to remember the new teachers and to stay in
contact with them. You never know how much one simple note or card
can impact someone's days, even years later. Don't worry that you're
not their mentor, or in the same region but drop them a line letting
them know that they are not alone & that you care about them just as
much as you care about your students!

As for that matter -- lets send those notes to all our fellow
teachers! Sometimes that is all that gets me through the day as
well. ;-)

I hope everyone has their best school year ever!
