The representative from my area called me last night to discuss the issue. His name is J Cunningham, he actually is the one that wrote the original amendment about special ed. The issue with counselors and vocational teachers and whole bunch other stuff was added to his proposal from another individual. He stated his name, but I am forgetful. He said he has received many phone calls and e-mails concerning this issue. He told me last night that item 5 which states that counselors and vocational teachers and librarians will be removed from the MSIP scoring guide will be removed from the amendment or proposal. It has not been voted on yet, as of 9:30 last night.

But he reassured me that it will be removed from the amendment. He frankly told me that he was unaware that this add on was a part of his proposal and would not have known it if were not for individuals calling and writing e-mails.

We discussed this issue for about 20 minutes. He also complemented me on how professional our conversation was, apparently, many are being very hateful and rude. He also complimented MSTA lobbyist, not so much about NEA lobbyist.

Has anyone heard the latest on the legislation that was trying to be put through last week? A "friend of a friend" is a local representative and he believed that the bill had passed.
