have some input into the MAP assessments.  


Subject: MAP End-of-Course Item Writers Meeting, Application

 

To Area Career Centers on behalf of Dr. Nancy Headrick:

 

Information which may be of interest to you is going out in today's mail
from the Division of School Improvement.  Dr. Headrick had promised to
send you any information about this as soon as it was available.  Here
is the message contained in today's letter to school administrators from
Andrea Wood, Director of Assessment:

 

In anticipation of awarding a contract for the development and
administration of the end-of-course exams for MAP Algebra I, MAP
Biology, and MAP English II, the Assessment Section has scheduled an
item writing meeting to be held on September 25-27, 2007, at the
Assessment Resource Center in Columbia.  The timeline for submitting the
application to participate is very short and space is limited!  The item
writer application can be found on the Division of School Improvement
web page.  Teachers are to download, complete and return their
application by fax to the Assessment Section at 573-526-0812.  The link
to download this form is www.dese.mo.gov/divimprove
<http://www.dese.mo.gov/divimprove> .  Deadline is September 14.

 

Please distribute this information to any of your staff who may be
eligible to apply.  The item writer will need to be available to attend
all three days of the meeting.  Again, no applications will be accepted
after September 14.  Item writers who are chosen to attend will be
notified within a week following the deadline.

 

We are confident that with the help of Missouri teachers, the
development of the assessment will be valid and suitable for our
secondary students.  Thank you for your support of this important event.
