Advisors - here's an idea that might be a good one for your FCCLA
chapter/Child Development class. The message came from the state
supervisor from New Hampshire, but if your school has a preschool or
child development center, this might be a great service project to do
for them. This follows on the news of the number of toys that have
higher than allowable limits of lead paint. It would be a great
extension of a lesson on child/toy safety.

Here is a link to the CDC site with information on lead paint exposure.

**************************

One of our centers has just completed a lead paint test on the toys in
their ECE lab school. 80% of the toys that they have tested positive
for lead paint. Our center has removed all those toys and is trying
to contact the appropriate people to take the toys back or see if they
might be able to get replacements. They had gotten their testing kit
from the science department at their school but the kits are also
available through Home Depot and Lowes.
