An excellent graduate course will be offered October 27 and 28 (8AM-4PM) through Ottawa University. The course is titled "Exceptional Teaching Strategies: Networking with the Best Award-Winning Missouri and Kansas Educators Share Their Educational Philosophies and Classroom Activities". It will be held at the Platte County Resource Center (UMKC Northland Campus) near KCI Airport in North Kansas City. You can earn two graduate credits and the finished projects are due November 17. To register, please go to www.ottawa.edu. The course number is Edu 57314. I am securing some outstanding guest presenters including Missouri and Kansas Teachers of the Year.

Also -- if you are looking ahead to next year-- February 16 and 17 (8AM-4PM) I will be teaching the "Focus on the Teacher: Balancing Family and Work" graduate course for Ottawa University. One day we focus on time management for the family and home and the other day focuses on time management in the classroom. This is course number Edu 59457 and the assignments will be due March 8.

Let me know if you would like for me to email you the course syllabus for either course or if you have additional questions. Last fall I had several Jefferson City teachers take a weekend class that I taught. There are inexpensive hotels available near the airport and they drove up after school on Friday and returned home Sunday evening. Also -- this is close to Zona Rosa -- a fantastic new shopping adventure in North Kansas City.

  Take care -
  Marcia J. Ritter
  "Retired" Lee's Summit FACS educator
1995 Missouri Teacher of the Year
