[Technic] profiles

My domain is PUTNAM and there are several computers that will have Username.putnam and username folders in the profiles... I have deleted them without incident and my assumption is that the "username" profile is from when the user was signed on locally instead of the domain.

Subject: [Technic] profiles

How do domain profiles actually save on a computer? My domain is BES
and I see my 'username.BES' profile, but then there is also a 'username'
profile. I don't even have a local 'username' account. The profiles do
not have all the same data, yet I do see things that have changed in the
'username' profile. Like it has an ntuser.dat.LOG with the date of
yesterday in it. How are these profiles tied together?

Thanks.
