If a hotfix has been determined to fix your issue, there is no charge.  But I don't know if you have to pay before or after they have determined the problem.

Has anyone ever called Microsoft for a hotifix?  I don't know why they don't post them on their website.  Is it painless?  Do you have to pay for support?
