[Technic] Best way to move users

All students are warned at the end of the school year here that once
school is out that their files will be deleted. Students who wanted to
keep their files and didn't have a flash drive - we burned their files
to a disc for them. It's much easier, then I can change the path of the
whole OU in AD and the first time they log in at start of new school
year it creates the folder automatically and they can start trying to
fill it up with games, music and videos from day one.

Returning students here in the fall are in for a big surprise on the new
GP's being put into place. The former tech director was way too lax and
I am darned sick and tired of deleting age of empires 2 expansion pack
out of the user folders. Okay I am rambling, actually just feeling
overwhelmed at the moment at all the stuff I have to do this summer by
myself and wondering when the heck I am going to get it all done.

Hope everyone gets a little rest and relaxation this summer.

Andy, will they really need to carry their home directories with them?
New building fresh start. We just tell then that's the way it is.

Have a question, not sure how to go about this.

We have a single Windows 2003 domain for the district, and students move
to a different building after the 5th, 7th, and 9th grades. Each
building has their own file server for student home directories, and
within the domain, students are put in OU's based on graduation year.

I'm to the point now of being ready to move the kids to their next
building. I'm wondering what the easiest way is to get home directories
moved as well. I thought about using ADModify to change the location of
home directories for an entire OU, but I wasn't sure about getting the
folders in the new location created and have permissions set properly.
Is it possible to just drag and drop and have permissions stay with the
folders?

Anyone have any suggestions as to the best and easiest way to go about
this? With 300 kids per grade level, I don't like the idea of having to
create new folders individually for all 900 kids going to a new
building.

Thanks.

Andy
