It looks like this might help.
Option 2: From Novell site at the following link:
On the Client Uninstall NMAS "Novell Modular Authentication Services"
from add or remove programs
Remove NMAS Authentication from the Novell Netware Client
1. Right click and choose properties on the Novell Netware Client
2. Locate and select the advaced login tab
3. Remove the check mark for NMAS Authentication and click OK
If removing the NMAS client or disabling NMAS Authentication is not an
option, the underlying problem may have something to do with NICI
corruption. Please see TID #7000443 - Error "Failed to set current tree
name. Can not continue" for more details.

Sorry, for the long drawn out email...I didn't want to leave anything
out...
I m back, and able to continue trouble shooting this problem
again...
I ve got 31 Gateway E-4610D s in a lab...These computers came with
Windows
Vista that I down graded to XP pro...I have down loaded all the XP
drivers for these
computers from Gateway s support site...and re-installed them all,
more than once
while trying different things...They still will not work...
The problem:
They work great - other than:
Students can t save files to their NW6.5 home directory...It creates
a zero length file
and says the file is in use...They also can t change their network
password using
Windows by pressing CNTL ALT DEL and selecting change password...These
same
students can change their password on any other computer in the
district, just not
these 31 computers...I thought maybe it could be a faulty switch or
faulty network
cabling so I took a computer form another classroom and set it in place
of a non
working computer and users can save files and change their password
without any
problems...Also, logged in as Netware Administrator I can t create
users or change
passwords, or do anything I should be able to do in NWAdmin on the
faulty
computers...This problem is only on these 31 computers...I ve
checked, updated,
reinstalled drivers, uninstalled programs, etc. to no avail...I have
reinstalled
Windows XP Pro and installed client32 4.91SP4 and it still will not let
you save files
or change passwords...Nothing has worked...I finally brought one of the
non
working computers up to the server room and plugged it into the same
switch the
server is plugged into -- to eliminate all possible switch or cabling
problems that
could cause a problem...Still does not work...I ve put two different
NIC s in, and it
still will not allow you to change your password or save files...
Running NW6.5 SP6...I see there is a SP7 out, but don t think this
will solve this
problem...Windows XP Pro with SP3 and all available updates...
Firmware Version: 2.1.3.1031...It also says in the BIOS that Intel®
Integrator toolkit
has modified this BIOS...Also I can NOT disable the Integrated NIC in
the
BIOS...Looks like I should be able to change it but the cursor jumps
over the
Enable/Disable option...
I ve noticed in the BIOS under the Intel ® ME tab there s and
option to enter the
Intel ® Management engine password...I didn t enter a password here
and don t
know what the password could possible be...
When running NWAdmin on one of these computers and try to change a
user s
password I get this error:
(ERROR 1073) Netware Administrator
The password could not be changed.
Error code: 126:-319
(Note the error message and error code and refer to the Help Topics -
System
Messages.)
When in NWAdmin on one of these computers and try to create a user I
get this
error:
(Error 1066) Netware Administrator
An object key pair could not be generated.
Error code: 304:-319
(Note the error number and error message and refer to Help Topics -
System
Messages.)
Gateway says it s a security setting that I ve changed somewhere,
maybe in the
BIOS...
Opps just pressed F9 to set BIOS defaults and now it won t
boot...Comes up with a
message that says: Please refer to the product guide at
http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop...
One down, 30 more to go!!! I m going home, had my fill for one
day!!!
Hope someone can help, since this is "above Gateway s Scope at their
level"...
Thanks,
Bill
