My wife and I had a car stolen a month ago at the back of our house.  It was
in the shop for a month, we picked it up on Friday and it was stolen again
on Sunday night from the parking lot behind Can Gogh's.with a club!  I am
totally convinced that this is an un-winnable battle. Given the point system
for the kids and the notion that the STLPD is overwhelmed there is really
nothing to stop these crimes. The new tax district will not stop this,
cameras will not stop it, bait cars have not stopped it. Its crazy to me,
all this development in the neighborhood. Just because you rehab the brick
does not mean the NEIGHBORHOOD has been rehabbed; that takes the willingness
of the entire city.  All the work on Washington Ave, new ballparks, etc,
this is all lipstick on a pig. I have lived in big cities all my life and
have never seen the complacency for this kind of behavior that I have seen
in st. louis.
