[TGE-mail] Pestalozzi Place News

I'm really surprised by this message.

I certainly appreciate the horror that it must have been to be robbed in your own backyard, and I'm glad you're OK to send this message.

However, I live equi-distant between the old Pestalozzi Place and Riley's. I feel like I keep my ear pretty close to the ground about what's going on, and I just haven't heard anything about this sort of predatory behavior against customers of either venue.

Can anybody with the actual crime statistics for the neighborhood confirm or dispute this pattern of events?

In general, I think the more legitimate traffic we have in the neighborhood, the less likely any thugs are to be comfortable.

In answer to your direct question, the simplest, but most expensive solution is for the business owners to pay to have security guards on duty.

Happy Holidays to all you thread readers!

My husband and I also live right down the block from Virginia and Pestalozzi.

While Pestalozi place was open, we saw a huge increase of violent crime in the area. The predadors would wait for people leaving the bar, and then rob them. As a matter of fact, we were robbed at gunpoint February 28,2007, in our own backyard. I'm not terribly keen on another bar going in at the corner of my block, although I admit, the Scottish arms is one of my favorite lunch places in the City.

Any ideas on how to prevent a repeat of the sharks stalking all the late night drinkers?

    Anyone know more about that?
