Good Morning Karen,
Carolyn Alfren last Friday sent me a news release about public hearings
in MO on State Plans for VR and Independent Living Services for the
disabled...she says Paraquad will furnishing transportation to local
hearing (there is 5 being held 2/7 from 1-5 p.m.) if you want me to send
you the news release I can. I was wondering if you know how to contact
any of these people working on changing the State Vocational
Rehabilitation process so I could e-mail them and voice my problem with
VR. If I attend will someone pick me up at the house and return me? I
will need a wheelchair once I get there and a SSP.
What is the latest on the PAS situation? Will DHSS make an exception in
my case so that Paraquad becomes the agency that the PAS turns in the
time sheet and pays the person. I hear that alll caregivers get Medicaid
as well as $8.50 an hour then PAS could gett the full amount of money
minus the health insurance. (the agency keeps some of the money from the
time sheet). None of the agencies have had a deaf-blind client only blind
so that means none can sign just print in palmand when the client's hand
is cold they don't comjmunicate at all except a YES or NO on the body
not the hand. That is what my caregiver does if I can't say what others
eedo...I've had about 6 cargivers in 2 years.
Warm Blessings,
Dennis
