[TGE-mail] Attempted Theft

Yesterday evening we observed a white couple walking east in the alley  
between Pestalozzi and Halliday in the 3400 block. 
A few minutes later we noticed the woman, alone, standing between our yard  
and my neighbors, staring into our neighbors yard. 
  I opened my back door and through my screen, asked her if there was  
something she needed.  
She said she was "resting", but, immediately, the man, who had been  out of 
view, exited quickly from their yard.  
 I asked him what was up, but he and the woman quickly walked  away.
I told my neighbor what I had observed,  she immediately called to her  sons 
to get the lawnmower, which was covered up, and ladders out of the  back yard. 
   
The man had removed the tarp that covered the mower, damaging the plastic  
grass diverter (or whatever you call that thing that keeps grass from shooting  
out of the side).
 
Please be more vigilant of loose items you care about in  your yards and 
seriously check out those folks who take  "walks'" in our alleys.   The just may 
walk off with something that  does not belong to them.
