[TGE-mail] Ad to prevent car break-ins - sorry to those who get this multiple times.

All,

The below link is to a quick news story regarding the campaign being run
exclusively (for now) in the 3rd District to help alleviate problems
with car break-ins. The 3rd District Police Partnership is funding the
campaign with money from memberships received annually from many of our
generous 3rd District businesses. You will see these ads in bus stops
to start, and then on posters and other items throughout the district.

The idea is that it's a sort of fun, non authoritative way of reminding
people to be careful when they park their cars. I am still
amazed...amazed at the sort of items that are being left in parked cars
visible for all to see and steal. Purses, computers, tvs, checkbooks,
it goes on and on...and these are just from last week!

Remember, it doesn't cost a cent for someone to break your window and
take something from your car. Many people say well, it was just an
empty gym back, who would want that? Bad guy doesn't know it's empty
until he has smashed your window and checked it out! Anyway, it's
frustrating because this type of crime is nearly completely avoidable.
Even papers need to be hidden. Some people look for personal
information on papers taken from cars. You may never know it was taken
until your credit report shows mysterious purchases on credit cards you
don't have.

Sorry for the long message.

Thanks again to Bill and Terri from Left Field Creative in Soulard for
coming up with the idea and poster designs.

I'm sending this to the neighborhood groups as well as our business
association members because the message is the main point.

Contact me with questions.

Any business or school or church wanting some of these posters can
contact me with the number and type of posters you'd like and we'll have
an officer drop some off. They will be available next week. The
posters are about 18" X 20" and say either "free beer" "free food" or
"free smokes."

Thanks,
