Be safe when removing tennis shoes from the utility lines, light fixtures are wherever the shoes are hanging or call Ameren UE, Charter Communication, At&T or Citizen Service Bureau (CSB, 622-4800) to indicate the location and any identifiable numbers on the pole.

This is often a sign of drug activity. These should be reported as soon as possible, whatever the case. Just as with graffiti, we want to remove them rather than let others mark a territory for any illegal purpose.

Is it urban legend or truth that shoes hung over telephone lines indicate an area
for drug activity? I'm just curious, as I pulled down three form the lines
behind my house today (for the first time).
