[TGE-mail] License plate stickers

Could someone educate me on whether it's ok to place license plate renewal stickers on the inside of your front & rear windows rather than placing them on the license plate itself (even if in the middle of the plate)?  I have had both plates stolen from my vehicle in the past (after renewing for 2 years), so I'm a little reluctant to slap my "10" sticker on just yet.  Thanks for any insight.  Betty
