Don't Forget, The new plates, with the bluebird, will begin on July 1. The State MDOR feels this will be harder to steal.

Also, a old city trick is to take a box cutter and score (cut lightly through) your sticker once you have placed it on the plate, if you do this in multiple directions a thief would have to take hours not only getting your sticker off in pieces, but putting it back together...forget it.

I have been frustrated with the license tag theft issue in the past as well but I do know it is law to have them posted on your license plates, and not on the window of your car. That being said, I only put one sticker on the back plate and keep the other one in my car with my insurance card, etc. so its there if I get pulled over and they ask where it is and I can replace the back one should it get stolen. I'm taking a risk that the police will understand, at least City police should.
Also, I place my sticker in the middle of the plate - in between the lettering - and paint over it with clear nail polish. It makes it much harder to get off; and knock on wood, it hasn't been stolen in more than 3 years so it must be enough of a deterrent.
