2008 Movie Series Launches!
Series starts May 2nd at Union Station and May 3rd at Tower Grove Park!
Welcome back movie fans!
I'm pleased to announce that the 2008 movie series is set to go! So, get your blankets and chairs, picnic baskets and favorite brand of mosquito spray- 'cause this year Frontyard Features is back, bigger and better then ever before!
With the rise in price of gas, and food, the demand for free and cheap quality family entertainment is at an all time high. We are delighted that with the support of our sponsors, and neighborhood organizations, we can help the citizens of Missouri enjoy their summer, with out breaking the bank.
Presented by US Cellular and Powered by Ameren with the generous support of the St. Louis Parks and Recreation Department, and the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department, The Movies Around Missouri series is a 200 movie series taking place across the Show Me State this summer to help you become a tourist in your own town!
This summer you will the chance to SEE ST. LOUIS, SEE KANSAS CITY, OR SEE MISSOURI all summer long at one of our 200 movie events taking place. So instead of getting out of town this summer for your vacation we invite you to travel the state, see what it has to offer and see a movie at the same time!
Our series kicks off in St. Louis with Family Friendly movies with movies the adults can enjoy sprinkled in, including an independent film series highlighting local St. Louis filmmakers.
Starting off next weekend, here are the first 6 movies of the series
( All movies begin after dusk, in May the sun sets around 8pm. For accurate sun set times check out our sunset calendar here. ) :
MOVIE #1 May 2nd
GREASE -The Rocking Rydell Edition.
Union Station, under the boat dock.
Know all the words to every Grease song? Think you got the chops to take on Olivia Newton John? Test your skills with the sing-a-long edition of Grease and belt out the classics with your neighbors and friends.
MOVIE # 2- May 3rd
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Tower Grove Park, Whitaker Pool Pavilion
We got face painters to get your kids and maybe even you looking like the Cheshire Cat or the White Rabbit. Enjoy a movie where Frontyard Features began
in Tower Grove Park!
Movie #3 May 9th
Bee Movie
Stephens Lake Park, Columbia
Venture out to our first mid-state movie night in Columbia.
As for the movie, all I can is 5 words: Jerry Seinfield as a bee. That should be all kinds of awesome.
This will be my first time seeing it, maybe I'll see you there.
Movie #4 May 10th
Who framed Roger Rabbit?
Sublette Park with the Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association
Remember this one? Great mix of Live Action and Animation that makes for a pretty good combination for a movie, good for the whole family-and if you are my age you probably saw this one as kid. The next movie to cross over Live Action and Animation was Cool World with our show me state brother Brad Pitt in 1992. Not as good. Hence, why you won't see that one this summer.
Movie Number #5 May 13th
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Westport Plaza, Maryland Heights
Something about upright standing, singing chipmunks frightens me. But who can hate Alvin, Simon and Theodore? This is another movie I haven't seen yet and look forward to seeing for the first time on the big screen at lovely Westport Plaza.
Movie Number #6 May 14th
Meet Me in St. Louis,
World's Fair Pavilion, Forest Park
This is the third year I have been doing movie nights and every year I have shown MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. The truth is you can't do a St. Louis Movie Series and not show this movie. So this year I decided to do it on the spot ( or as near as I can get to ) where the World Fair took place.
....and that's just the first two weeks! For the complete calendar of events please visit our website at WWW.FYFSTL.COM
Sign up to our email alerts and you could win one of our gifts compliments of the RFT!
Also we have left open many slots for you to schedule an event of your own, if you would like to schedule your neighborhoods movie night please call 314-664-4330 or fill out our information request form here.
That's it for this week! I hope to see you at our first two movies next weekend, and hope you come back for more throughout the summer.
See you at the movies!
