Norah,
Could you forward this to the TGENA listserve?
Thanks,
susan

As of today, there are still a few seats available for students from any ethnic or racial group other than African Americans (white, Asian, Hispanic) for fall 2008 admission in grades K-5 at the Mullanphy Investigative Learning Center, a pre-k-5th grade magnet school with a math and science emphasis located at 4221 Shaw Blvd. Mullanphy, which is affiliated with the Missouri Botanical Garden, has a gifted pull-out in math and science for grades 2-5. There is a 35% set aside of seats for children who live within a mile of the school. If you would like more information or would like to tour the school, you may phone Principal Kenneth Blanton at 772-0994.

There are also seats open for non-Black students in kindergarten and pre-school at the following magnets; Ames VPA, Montessori, Lyon (moving to Blow) and Mallinckrodt. More seats will open up for African American students on their waiting lists if more non-Black students enroll in Mallinckrodt and Lyon. Mallinckrodt is located at Hampton and Pernod. Lyon is moving to Blow on Loughborough near Carondelet Park.

There may also be seats at Wilkinson Early Childhood Center since it is moving to a larger building, Roe. Call the Recruitment and Counseling Center at 633-5200 to apply. This is for admission in August 2008. If you want to speak with the principals of these schools, their phone numbers can be found on the slps.org website.
