Dear TGE Residents:

The name of the program to help with sidewalk repair is called the 50/50
Sidewalk Program. 
Below is an excerpt from the St. Louis City website:

The City does, however, offer a program called the 50/50 Sidewalk Program in
which the City covers 1/2 the costs of replacing sidewalks, and bills the
owner for the rest of the cost. To qualify for the 50/50 sidewalk program
your property must be single-family, 2-family, or 4-family, and
owner-occupied. 
Procedure: 
Contact your alderman (see below) or the Citizens Service Bureau (622-4800)
or the Street Department (647-3111).  Provide your address and you will be
put on a waiting list. Each ward has a different waiting time, ranging from
6 months to nearly 3 years, depending on funding availability. The average
wait is 1 to 1 ½ years. 
When it is your turn the inspector will be sent out and give an estimate of
the cost of repair. If you are willing to pay ½ the cost (the city will pay
the other 1/2), you have 21 days to sign the estimate and return it (either
by mail or in person) to the Street Department. 
The cost of the repair varies and estimates are based on square footage.
Payments for the repair can be paid in installments arranged with the Street
Department. 
In addition, if your sidewalk is damaged significantly by a city-owned tree
planted in the tree lawn, you may be eligible to have that section of your
sidewalk replaced at no cost to you. Contact your alderman or the Forestry.
